The creative partnership of Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg produced this acclaimed Second World War-set miniseries, following a company of paratroopers from their training through the D-Day invasion and the final months of the conflict.
Based on real events as recounted in Stephen E Ambrose’s book of the same name, the HBO drama is as interested in the bonds forged between the men – and the psychological toll of combat – as it is in the battles they endure.
Its ensemble cast includes Damian Lewis, David Schwimmer and Dexter Fletcher, among others, whose piercing depiction of wartime solidarity earned the ten-parter both Emmy and Golden Globe honours following its original broadcast in 2001.
