Summary
A college dropout looks for inventive ways to keep a roof over the head of her baby in a heartwarming comedy drama starring Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nick Offerman. Based on Rufi Thorpe's best-selling novel, Margo's Got Money Troubles centres on the eponymous new mother and aspiring writer (Fanning), who can't afford to live in her dreams with a tiny mouth to feed. She can't rely on help from her mother Shayanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), a former Hooters waitress, and father Jinx (Nick Offerman), who made his name as a professional wrestler. Margo will need to be creative to pay the bills and embrace motherhood with both hands.

Review
Jack Seale
David E Kelley has been a top TV writer in the US for a few decades, from Ally McBeal to Big Little Lies – he has been married to Michelle Pfeiffer the whole time, but this is the first time he has cast her in one of his creations.
This is, however, a series that belongs to Elle Fanning as directionless college student Margo, whose dalliance with a professor leaves her and her single mother Shyanne (Pfeiffer) in a pickle.
When Margo has a child, it brings her long-lost father Jinx (Nick Offerman) back into a family defined by kooky, spiky chaos. Loose, funny and with a cracking 70s/80s soundtrack (Sheena Easton and Dire Straits!), the series is full of characters whose financial struggles smother their talents. But their wits keep us entertained, and there are more nice surprises further down an excellent cast.
