Iran v New Zealand

Summary

Iran v New Zealand (Kick-off 2.00am). Coverage of the opening Group G fixture for both sides, which takes place at Los Angeles Stadium in Inglewood, USA. Iran have never progressed beyond the group stage of a World Cup finals, but will feel this is their best chance yet, with so many teams involved and a relatively undaunting group facing them. They also have plenty of experience on the global stage, having reached the last three finals, especially compared to their opponents. The All Whites' last appearance in the World Cup finals was back in 2010, when they held the distinction of being the only undefeated team in the tournament, although that was of little consolation as they were eliminated from their group, along with Italy, after finishing behind Paraguay and Slovakia
