Germany v Paraguay

Summary

Germany v Paraguay (Kick-off 9.30pm). Coverage of the round-of-32 match at Boston Stadium in the USA. Germany thrashed Curaçao 7-1 and then came from behind to edge out Ivory Coast to secure their place as Group E winners, but were beaten by Ecuador in their final group game, and have yet to look like potential winners of the tournament. Paraguay will be delighted simply to have progressed, having lost their opener 4-1 to the USA, with a 1-0 win against Turkiye and a goalless draw against Australia seeing them come through as one of the third-placed qualifiers

Germany will look to avoid a slip-up against Paraguay when the pair meet in Boston in the World Cup round of 32.

The four-time winners topped Group C but lost their final game to Ecuador and must now rally, as another misstep will see them heading home.

Paraguay qualified for the knock-out stages as one of the best third-placed teams, having finished below USA and Australia in Group D.
