Summary

Don and Phil - arguably the greatest harmony singers of all time - began as childhood musicians, performing hymns and country songs as Little Donnie and Baby Boy Phil on their father's radio shows in Iowa, where they grew up. This documentary follows Don back to the place where their love for music was formed to recall the music that was omnipresent in their home, the influence of their parents, the early radio shows and the musicians they played with in their formative years. Contributors include Art Garfunkel, Graham Nash, Dave Edmunds and Tim Rice

Review

Paul Whitelaw

One of the greatest and most influential acts of the early rock ’n’ roll era, Don and Phil Everly crafted a unique sound based on an instinctive blend of country, folk and R&B. They set a template for close harmony singing that was eagerly absorbed by the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and many more besides. This 2016 documentary features a candid, first-hand testament from Don, who recounts how he and Phil – who passed away in 2014 – created some stunning music while not always seeing eye to eye. Don died in 2021, so the film now serves as a tribute to both of them.
