All aboard a high-speed thriller that comes from the same rolling stock as ITV1’s pacy boloney Red Eye and Apple TV’s similarly silly-yet-glossy Hijack. Instead of being airborne, the mode of terrorised transport is a train travelling overnight from Glasgow to London Euston. Passenger and police officer Joe (Joe Cole) is the man in the middle of a terrifying situation: there’s no wi-fi or phone signal on board, and the rail network is going into meltdown. So far, so daily commute.

However, with a suspicious device discovered and the train rattling out of control, via satellite phone he connects with cyber security expert Abby (Alexandra Roach). Can she figure out who’s behind the hijacking, and help him stop the train before it hurtles off the track? And can this drama — penned by The Control Room’s Nick Leather — stop itself from being derailed?

It’s looking unlikely, judging by the daft exposition and implausibility that are packed into this opener. Best not to poke the plot holes too vigorously and instead let it all wash over — not least the most improbable of occurrences: a train that’s delayed by only eight minutes.
