Summary

Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead headline an eight-part historical drama created by Ben Vanstone and directed by Sam Miller and Sarah O'Gorman, adapted from Amor Towles's acclaimed 2016 novel. Following the October Revolution, aristocrat Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov (McGregor) appears before a Bolshevik tribunal to face damning charges, which could result in death if he is found guilty. Instead, he is sentenced to house arrest for the rest of his life at his current residence, the Hotel Metropol in central Moscow. Rostov is relocated to unglamorous and cramped servants' quarters and he slowly befriends staff and other guests including princess-obsessed nine-year-old, Nina Kulikova (Alexa Goodall). The Count attempts to keep alight his romance with actress girlfriend Anna Urbanova (Winstead) despite his dramatic change in circumstances and restricted freedom
