The Ramblers’ Rest on Dartmoor is a small guesthouse that promises “sumptuous comfort” with practical elements for walkers. But, although owners Nikki and Terry have an answer for everything, Alex Polizzi is horrified. She finds pitiful storage, a filthy outdoor kitchen, a naff “honesty” breakfast cupboard and a scruffy exterior.

This couple also have massive debts but it’s Terry who tests Alex’s patience because he’s so negative about her suggestions.
