New to the platform is gripping political thriller Animals, directed by and starring Ben Affleck. When the teenage son of a Los Angeles mayoral candidate is kidnapped, he and his wife are plunged into a desperate race to secure the ransom, uncovering a web of secrets, lies and moral compromises that threaten both their family and political future. Co-starring Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson and Steven Yeun, the tense drama combines family stakes with high-pressure political intrigue.

In romantic drama Brooklyn, Saoirse Ronan plays a young woman torn between two lovers – one in an America easing its way out of the 1950s straitjacket, the other back in good old, safe old Ireland. Whichever way she jumps, there will probably be tears before bedtime, possibly preceded by a nice cup of cocoa.

Following her debut in the bombastic Batman v Superman biff-a-thon, Gal Gadot is unleashed in solo action as iconic super heroine Wonder Woman, whose mission of peace somehow always ends up with the Amazon warrior mopping the floor with miscreants. It's no different here when she's plunged into "the war to end all wars" alongside Chris Pine's American air ace, and targets Danny Huston's warmongering general and his poisonous female sidekick.

The Suicide Squad spin-off Birds of Prey: and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn sees the eponymous hero (played by Margot Robbie) team up with vigilantes Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to protect a young girl from Ewan McGregor's sleek villain Black Mask. To make matters worse, Batman is missing from Gotham City so crime is running rampant...

Desert power! The epic second part of the blockbuster Dune series is available on the service. After the downfall of his family, Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) trains up with the natives of desert planet Arrakis and grows closer to warrior Chani (Zendaya). Giant sandworms, political schemes and a downright awesome fight scene involving Austin Butler's villainous Feyd-Rautha are just some of the memorable sights in this eye-popping sci-fi. Part Three hits cinemas this Christmas.

The 1994 Formula One season was overshadowed by horror at the San Marino Grand Prix, but it also saw one of the sport’s greats driving into the spotlight. Cracking new Netflix film Schumacher ’94: the Birth of a Legend digs into the archive to tell the story of Michael Schumacher’s rapid rise.
