Back in May, Star Wars returned after a seven-year hiatus from the big screen with The Mandalorian & Grogu.

The theatrical spin-off of the beloved Disney+ show saw the titular bounty hunter and his adoptive son grace cinemas for the first time, although it didn't quite perform as well at the box office as Disney might have been hoping.

Directed by the show's creator Jon Favreau, who previously kicked off the MCU with Iron Man, and written by Favreau and new Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni, the movie is an expansion of the TV show – and also includes new roles for sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver and even a cameo from filmmaking icon Martin Scorsese.

Given its origins as as a streaming first TV show, fans might be wondering if there's a way to watch the film at home yet. So if you want to know how to watch The Mandalorian & Grogu... this is the way.

How to watch The Mandalorian & Grogu – is it streaming?

Yes! As of Tuesday 21 July, The Mandalorian & Grogu is now available to watch at home.

The film is available to rent and buy on a range of Premium Video on Demand platforms including Prime Video and Google Play, with the prices currently sitting at £15.99 for rental and £19.99 for purchase.

That's just less than two months after the film was released in cinemas on 22 May, with it having grossed $344.8 million in total since then – lower than the takings for any previous Star Wars film.

If you still do fancy seeing it on the big screen, there are still a few select cinemas around the UK where it is still showing – but they are relatively few and far between.

Is The Mandalorian & Grogu on Disney+?

Not yet. However, as with every other Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be coming to Disney+ at a later date – so if you're a subscriber and happy to wait a little longer, you might want to hold off before splashing the cash on a digital copy just yet.

When might The Mandalorian & Grogu be released on Disney+?

At time of writing, the exact date has yet to be revealed.

If it follows the release pattern of other Disney films, we'll likely have to wait another couple of months before it arrives on the platform, as the studio tends to leave a gap of four to six months between theatrical release and streaming debut.

With that in mind, we might see it arriving at some point from September onwards, we'll keep this page updated as and when concrete news filters through.

What is the Mandalorian & Grogu plot?

This journey brings the titular duo into conflict with the Hutts (of Jabba the Hutt fame), who are one of several parties vying for more power in this uncertain post-Empire time period.

The official synopsis reads: "The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.
