The film, titled Hyde, is described as a "noir-tinged psychological thriller" and is written and directed by brothers Graham and Parker Phillips – whose previous films include The Bygone and Rumble Through the Dark.
According to a synopsis, McCallany will star as Detective Grimes, a "haunted investigator" who descends "into the decaying underbelly of a crumbling metropolis while hunting a brutal serial killer".
Emmanuel will play Detective Doran, an officer assigned to shadow Grimes, while other cast members include Bruce Greenwood (Fall of the House of Usher) and David Harewood (Homeland).

Game of Thrones star Natalie Emmanuel will star.
Greenwood plays Henry Monroe, the therapist Grimes is mandated to see, whose sessions begin to reveal the detective’s troubled past, while Harewood is Robert Malloy, a Lieutenant trying to hold an underfunded department together while hoping he can drag Grimes back from the edge.
Speaking about the project, the Phillips brothers released a joint statement in which they said they were "thrilled to be working with such intelligent and collaborative actors".
They added: "Everyone arrived with bold ideas, strong instincts, and a real willingness to explore and take risks, all against the backdrop of Bucharest, whose architecture and atmosphere feel tailor-made for this twisted tale."
Of course, McCallany is no stranger to playing characters dealing with serial killers. His starring role as Bill Tench on Netflix's acclaimed psychological crime Mindhunter is his most well-known role, so this new film will be good news for fans still upset that series was never renewed for a third run.
