It's been 15 years since Maisie Williams got her big break as a child star in Game of Thrones – and in her new film she's starring alongside someone who's currently going through a very similar deal.

500 Miles – which also includes roles for Bill Nighy and Michael Socha – sees Williams team up with Dexter Sol Ansell, who recently made a splash as main character Egg in the Westeros-based spin-off Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Speaking exclusively to Radio Times about the film, Williams explained how she had had several conversations on set with Ansell about their shared experience – and that she had already heard great things before their first meeting.
"His reputation preceded him," she explained. "Because I had been for lunch with someone who worked on Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and they just could not stop telling me about how good this kid was."
She continued: "And then it was just a real pleasure. I got to speak with him and his mum so much about my experiences, and he's just got a real sensible head on his shoulders.
"I think it's going to be challenging, but I think that he's got a good support network, and it's clear he absolutely adores it, and so I think any opportunity when anyone gets to do something that they love that much is just a gift."

She added that she was "thrilled" with the success Ansell had with the first season and that they were already moving ahead with a second run.
As for whether she had been watching the various Game of Thrones spin-offs herself, Williams revealed that she'd "not seen a lot of any of the shows" yet but that she was keen to dip into them a little more.
And there's one aspect of the shows that she's been very grateful for.
"I love that there are so many more actors now at parties that understand how wild and crazy the fandom is," she said. "I feel like it's been so nice to meet all of these other actors that are in the spin-offs. Because it's just.. it's a phenomenon that, like, not a lot of people understand.
"So I love connecting with them. I just love hanging out with people that are on the shows."

500 Miles.
In 500 Miles, Williams play a character called Kait, a free-spirited busker who meets two young brothers (Ansell and Roman Griffin Davis) who are making a trip to see their recently estranged grandfather after running away from home.
"I found it deeply entertaining, particularly the two boys, and their dynamic with each other," Williams said of signing on for the project.
"And it was just so sad and so moving and so beautiful in lots of ways, I just felt really compelled to do the project. And I felt so excited at the possibility of playing and singing and all of these other things!"
