The film will be titled Seasons and is based on a viral short story by Matt & Harrison Query, which was originally published on Reddit before being adapted into a full-length novel.
According to Deadline, Hancock has written the screenplay for the project, which follows a husband and wife who buy their dream ranch on land which they soon discover is alive with ancient spirits.
In order to ensure their survival in this new environment, the couple are forced to submit to a number of increasingly disturbing rituals with each turn of the season.

No further casting information has been confirmed at this time, so it will be interesting to see who is chosen to star opposite James.
James's most recent big screen credits include last year's Swiped – in which she played Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd – as well as thriller Relay and crime comedy Greedy People.
She's also currently attached to a number of other upcoming movies, including mystery drama Harmonia, crime spin-off Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, action reboot Cliffhanger and thriller Subversion.

Her most famous roles include playing Lady Rose Aldridge in Downton Abbey, the title character in Disney's live-action Cinderella, young Donna in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again and Pamela Anderson in TV series Pam & Tommy.
Meanwhile, this will be Hancock's second film as writer and director after the aforementioned Companion, which starred Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid. He's also written extensively for TV, including co-creating the 2018 series My Dead Ex.
