Dame Julie Andrews has confirmed that she will not be reprising her role as Clarisse Renaldi in the upcoming third Princess Diaries film – with the acting legend revealing that she's "really past all that now".

The Mary Poppins and Sound of Music icon – who is now 90 years old – made the comments in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter when asked if there was any chance of a return.
"I don’t think so," was her response. "I think the absolute truth is that I think I’m really past all that now."
She continued: "I’m not completely retired, but it’s a different kind of work that I do these days – [writing] books, and I do a lot of recording of podcasts and voiceovers. But truly, I don’t think I should be a part of it."

Andrews added that it was "still lovely to be working on things" but that she was not looking for roles on camera any more.
However, she did remark that she was interested to see what writer Meg Cabot and star Anne Hathaway have come up with for the next film, while she also reminisced that the original had been a "very enjoyable film to make".
The first film just celebrated its 25th anniversary this month, while Hathaway announced earlier in the summer that there had recently been a "breakthrough" with regards to the long-gestating Princess Diaries 3.
The star – who has recently been seen in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and The Odyssey and also leads upcoming thriller The End of Oak Street – gave an update during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in July.
"I can say I think we had a story breakthrough," she said. "I think we are moving in the right direction.
"The script that we were working on – we kind of had to start over with this new direction, which is not the update I think anybody wants, but we all feel really good that this is gonna be the one."
It was initially confirmed that there were plans for a third film back in 2024, with Joy Ride director Adele Lim set to helm the project.
