Sam Raimi's original Evil Dead trilogy – which he began as a very young filmmaker in the early 1980s – continues to stand as one of the most towering achievements in horror history.

Across those three films, the maverick director combined slapstick humour, inventive camerawork and extreme violence to craft something incredibly unique, building up a major following along the way.
In more recent years – starting with a reboot in 2013 – Raimi has passed the baton on to a new new generation of filmmakers, and the latest to stamp his authority on the franchise is French director Sébastien Vaniček.
His latest film Evil Dead Burn is inspired by the New French Extremity movement that emerged at the turn of the century, and largely dispenses with the lighter aspects of Raimi's films to craft something genuinely dark and nasty.

How to watch Evil Dead Burn – is it streaming?
No – for the time being, Evil Dead Burn will only be available to watch in cinemas, as it is getting an exclusive theatrical release.
The film officially opens on Friday 10 July (although some cinemas started holding screenings the day before on Thursday 9) and is getting a wide release, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find somewhere that is showing it near you.
If you're keen to take a trip to the pictures, just check your local cinema schedules to find a time that suits you!
When will Evil Dead Burn be released on streaming?
Of course, the film will eventually become available to watch at home – which might suit squeamish viewers who need to excuse themselves for some of the more... extreme sections of the film.
In the first instance, it will be made available to rent and purchase on all the usual Premium Video on Demand platforms including Prime Video and YouTube, most likely a couple of months after the start of the theatrical run.
Our best guess for now – when taking into account similar previous releases – is that it might become available on streaming at some point in mid-September, but we'll keep this page updated if we hear anything more official.

Evil Dead Burn. Studio Canal
As for whether the film might eventually find its way on to any of the subscription based streaming platforms, the best bet is probably the relatively niche option Studio Canal Presents.
The streamer – which is available as an add-on on Prime Video – is currently hope to Evil Dead 2, the 2013 Evil Dead reboot and the previous film Evil Dead Rise, and so it seems likely that the new film will also be available on there at some point.
When we hear any information about when that might be, we'll be sure to let you know!
Evil Dead Burn cast – who stars in the new film?
The cast for the new film is made up of a line-up of recognisable faces, foreign actors and rising stars. Souheila Yacoub takes the lead as the film's pink-haired protagonist with the Swiss actress most recognisable as Shishakli in Dune: Part Two.
Yacoub is no stranger to horror, having appeared in supernatural film The Carpenter's Son alongside Nicolas Cage and FKA Twigs last year, and Gasper Noe's extreme film Climax back in 2018.
Meanwhile, Hunter Doohan – who also has a key role – also has an established connection to horror and gothic material before Evil Dead Burn, best known for his role as Tyler Galpin in Netflix's Wednesday.
The full cast for the Evil Dead Burn is as follows:
- Souheila Yacoub as Alice
- Tandi Wright as Susan
- Hunter Doohan as Joseph
- Luciane Buchanan as Thya
- Erroll Shand as Edgar
- Maude Davey as Polly
- George Pullar as Will
- Tapiwa Soropa as Mike
- Keanu Karim as Jared
- Alain Chabat as Alice's dad
- Greta Van Den Brink as Jessica
