Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Sue Heal

A sometimes droll, but mostly dull, attempt to make a comedy of sexual manners out of seafaring Wanda Hendrix's hold over four disparate but somewhat dissolute men. Hendrix is good fun and Edmond O'Brien is eminently watchable as always, but, despite a decent cast that struggles vainly with the extremely poor material, this one fails to ignite from reel one. With a brief nod to female emancipation here and a doffed cap to chauvinism there, this is a film which does not recognise the need to play the gender game. And by the end of a seemingly interminable 90 minutes, the audience will not care.
