This thriller from first-time co-directors Sam H Freeman and Ng Choon Ping is frighteningly dark and accomplished. Expanding upon the pair's 2021 short of the same name, it follows London drag artist Jules (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), who is attacked by homophobic thugs while out shopping one night. He's still recovering a few months later when he bumps into the ringleader, Preston (George MacKay), in a gay sauna, and the two begin an uneasy affair characterised by mutual mistrust and the ever-present spectre of violence. Both actors are fantastic, and they're backed by strong direction and cinematography - late-night London has never looked so forbidding. As the characters' lives entwine, the tension builds, and we're never quite sure what Preston really knows about Jules - or himself for that matter. The result is an extraordinary erotic thriller for an uncertain age.
