Summary
A profile of the photographer, who revolutionised his art by inventing a political, humanist and accessible language. The programme follows him on a road trip, his camera trigger finger always at the ready to capture the smallest details of everyday life, and there are interviews with various individuals who have crossed paths with Parr, including close family, fellow photographers, artists and film-makers

Jane Rackham
At a time when any “serious” photographer worked in black and white, Martin Parr was something of a gentle maverick, taking satirical pictures of working- class people, often while at the seaside, using saturated colour that made the distinctive images vibrant to the point of trashy. But Parr has always said that they are not simply saucy postcard shots. Look closely and you’ll see that they offer a humorous insight into our society.
Originally shown last year, director Lee Shulman’s tender portrait of the unassuming Parr reminds us of his extraordinary canon of work, while fans such as Grayson Perry applaud his revolutionary approach.
