The delightful return of Sherlock Holmes's sparky sleuth of a sister puts paid to the adage that movie sequels only get worse. Not only does this third tale build upon the quirky beats and fourth-wall-breaking silliness of her first two outings, but it also heads to pastures new, swapping 19th-century London for sunny Malta. Millie Bobby Brown is on fine form again as the now grown-up and set-to-be-married Enola Holmes. There's no doubt that she's in love with the genial Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), who she met in the first film. The problem is that she's not sure she's ready to give up the Holmes name to become a Lady. As she dilly-dallies before the wedding, Dr Watson (Himesh Patel) arrives to inform her that Sherlock (Henry Cavill) has been kidnapped. The ensuing plots, fights and chases are energetic, while Enola and her paramour receive plenty of heartfelt moments. The result is a thoroughly ripping yarn filled with all the fun of the first two - and an even more liberated heroine.
