Hugh Sinclair assumed the role of Simon Templar in this tame thriller, made in Britain by RKO. Although co-scripted by author Leslie Charteris from his own story, it's hardly an original mystery, with Sinclair racing ruthless Nazi agents to a musical box that contains a vital code. Switzerland has never looked quite so much like a series of hurriedly built studio sets, but then Sinclair is nothing like the genuine article either. The chief interest lies in the solid supporting cast, which includes Cecil Parker, Felix Aylmer and Sally Gray, who suffered a nervous breakdown shortly after completing Dangerous Moonlight later that year.
