Summary

Having made one of the definitive studies of the professional killer in Point Blank, John Boorman, for some reason, felt the need to act as executive producer on this dispiriting Irish TV movie directed by Michael Dryhurst. Patrick McGoohan is an assassin for hire who plans to retire in Ireland after deciding he has lost the pitiless detachment required for the job. However, he is lured back for a final hit by Lee Van Cleef, but relations between the two soon deteriorate. The scenery is breathtaking, but that scarcely compensates for the dour story and the lacklustre performances.
