Summary

Coming-of-age comedy drama starring Maisy Stella and Aubrey Plaza. Free-spirited, college-bound teenager Elliott celebrates her 18th birthday by taking magic mushrooms. A teenager on the cusp of heading to college finds life becoming complicated after she meets her older self in this sprightly and warm-spirited comedy. Elliott (Maisy Stella from TV's Nashville, making an impressive film debut) meets the "old ass" version of herself (Aubrey Plaza) while she's tripping on mushrooms with her pals. Reluctant to reveal much about the future, Elliott's playfully cynical 39-year-old incarnation offers one piece of advice: "avoid anyone named Chad." That seems pretty easy, since Elliott is in a relationship with barista Chelsea (Alexandria Rivera) - that is, until Chad (Percy Hynes White) turns up to work on her family's farm. The gangly lad is hardly a hunk but there's something there, and though Elliott finds another way to try to quiz her older self, the advice is less than helpful. Actor-turned-director Megan Park (The Fallout) explores coming-of-age ideas about leaving your family and the first flush of love with humour and heart, in a charmer with cross-generational appeal that suggests older does not always mean wiser.
