Two brothers come to blows in this crowd-pleasing Danish comedy-drama. Nikolaj Lie Kaas is bank robber Anker, who entrusts stolen money to sibling Manfred (Mads Mikkelsen) moments before he's captured. After serving 15 years in jail, he's back - only to find Manfred has developed dissociative identity disorder and has no idea where the loot is. Anker resolves to snap him out of this psychiatric issue - which includes thinking he's John Lennon - by taking him to a rural cabin, their former family home. Written and directed by Anders Thomas Jensen (Riders of Justice), who has worked with Mikkelsen and Kaas on all of his six films, this is a wild circus act that includes tributes to the Beatles and Abba, Tarantino-like violence and physical Buster Keaton-style comedy (thanks to the unhinged Manfred, who has a habit of diving through windows or from moving cars). Mikkelsen is glorious, but so is Kaas as a man with serious anger management problems. Somehow, despite the bloodshed, this is a genuinely sweet story about sibling love.
