Enduring western hero the Cisco Kid goes undercover to foil a crooked land baron in this instalment of the cowboy franchise. Answering an appeal from an old friend who believes not only that his livelihood is threatened but that his family's lives are also in danger, the Kid (Duncan Renaldo) assumes the identity of a government official to infiltrate evildoer George J Lucas's inner circle. While there, he also sets about rescuing cantina singer Lillian Molieri, who is being held captive to perform exclusively for the bad guys. This was Renaldo's third outing as the Kid in 1945, having taken over the role from Cesar Romero, and the film is a slight departure from the norm with its musical interludes (featuring renowned nightclub act The Guadalajara Trio). However, the songs tend to break the flow of an already short film and ultimately serve little purpose, beyond padding out the running time of a story with few surprises.
