Tom Berenger returns for a third outing as marine super-sniper Thomas Beckett in this standard small-screen sequel. Yet while the former Platoon star slips comfortably back into military gear, the derivative material feels too slight for his talents - his ageing character is sent to Vietnam to dispatch a suspected terrorist kingpin, who turns out to be an old war buddy. As painful memories consequently haunt his mission, Beckett's flashback-heavy reflection takes precedence over his physical heroics, slowing the pace and fuelling grumpy exchanges with his young local sidekick (Byron Mann) that emphasise his now-dinosaur status. When action does explode, it's routinely executed but effective, with the obligatory pumping soundtrack upping the tension for some surprisingly grisly kills.
