Summary

Superhero action sequel starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas. Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) begins to receive strange messages from the Quantum Realm, where the wife of his mentor, Dr Hank Pym, has been missing for decades. Along with Pym's daughter, Hope Van Dyne (aka the Wasp), Scott plans a submicroscopic rescue mission - but they'll have to avoid the attentions of a black marketeer, the FBI and an unstable quantum entity.

Director Peyton Reed's second superhero outing cuts through the pomposity of other Marvel blockbusters with its self-deprecating humour and winningly goofy lack of pretension. Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) is taken out of FBI-imposed house arrest to help Dr Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and daughter Hope, aka the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), rescue his wife Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) from the Quantum Realm. Thwarting their plans are a black-market tech trafficker (Walton Goggins) and the shape-phasing Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Sardonic Rudd engagingly deadpans his way through a fun adventure that plays every which way with the comedic possibilities of scale, with the titular duo popping between micro-dimensions, the "real world", and gigantic size in the blink of an eye. It's visually thrilling and consistently silly, with the morphing tinker-toy cars providing extra dazzle.
