Summary

Action comedy starring Josh Hartnett and Charithra Chandran. Ex-CIA agent Lucas Reyes is tasked with boarding an international flight in order to identify and apprehend a mysterious hacker. However, the job grows infinitely more complicated when Reyes realises the plane is stuffed with assassins all battling to take down his target - and kill him in the process.

Calum Baker

Familiar it may be, but this comic thriller benefits from a droll performance from Josh Hartnett, enjoying himself as a former spy trapped on a plane filled with bounty hunters. His character, Lucas Reyes, has been frozen out of his intelligence job and hit the bottle in Thailand - until a former colleague (Katee Sackhoff) tasks him with boarding a flight to San Francisco and apprehending a mysterious hacker. Reyes, not entirely sober, must not only figure out who his target is but in turn protect them (and himself) from a murderer's row of international assassins whose employers want the hacker dead. The screenplay piles on the clichés as it strives to combine familiar John Wick-style scraps with some emotive ideas about social justice and surveillance-state overreach. However, director James Madigan does well with the ultra-violent fights and pulls off some deliciously grisly gags. Hartnett, fresh off career-reviving appearances in Oppenheimer and M Night Shyamalan's Trap, is a sparkling presence who nails the louche comedic tone, while Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) makes a fine foil throughout the carnage.
