Humphrey Bogart coasts through this movie, playing the commanding officer of a US Army surgical unit during the Korean War who falls in love with idealistic nurse June Allyson between dodging bullets and indulging in blokeish camaraderie. This was Bogart's second film for writer/director Richard Brooks (they had just made Deadline USA) who wanted to call this one MASH 66, but the studio thought the title was unsuitable. Released in early 1953, six months before the real Korean War ended, it doesn't have much to say about the conflict and seems unusually cliché-ridden for a director of Brooks's talent.
