Five friends with shared complicated pasts go on a hiking trip in the Scottish Highlands in this brutal survival thriller. When the group picks up army veteran Carla (Nicolette McKeown), who is headed the same way, she soon becomes the inexperienced campers' take-charge leader. Tragedy then strikes when Carla mercy kills one of the friends after an argument, causing everyone to flee into the forest. But how will they hack it against a highly trained killer who's out to eradicate witnesses to her unwarranted crime? Sometimes intense, but mostly just slow, the film benefits from its evocative setting. A wholesale suspension of disbelief is required to overcome the lapses in logic, but the edgy battle of wits that develops raises this above more derivative horror fare.
