This overblown adventure stars Michael Caine and Beverly Johnson as married doctors, who are working for the World Health Organisation in a small West African village when Johnson is kidnapped by slave-trader Peter Ustinov for wealthy prince Omar Sharif. Caine sets off to track her down - a journey as heavy-going as tap-dancing on sand thanks to Richard Fleischer's leisurely direction and Ustinov's lack of menace. William Holden and Rex Harrison put in cameo appearances as though performing a duty, while Caine is inanimate and inadequate.
