Review

Frances Taylor

Asim Chaudhry, Craig Parkinson and Julia Davis star in this disquieting and atmospheric drama short about an overtired, overworked minicab driver who’s trying to keep afloat financially and mentally. It’s a busy night shift in London for Shakil (Chaudhry). He’s nearing the end of his tether with the disrespectful and drunken passengers in the back of his cab when a man (Parkinson), who seems to know an awful lot about him, gets in the back seat. But who is he? And is he even there?

There’s an ambitious (but not wholly successful) attempt to squeeze a plethora of themes, issues and social commentary into this half-hour vignette, which is written and directed by Aysha Rafaele (producer of Murdered by My Father and Murdered for Being Different).
