Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Jamie Healy

A small film crew putting the finishing touches to a trashy zombie movie is plunged into a real-life survival horror in this audacious British genre-bender. After accidentally capturing a gangland murder on camera in the adjacent building, the crew find themselves targeted by hulking crime boss Richard Sandling and his henchmen. With a few low-budget productions already under his belt, writer/director Marc Price knows how to keep an audience interested, piling on the action and gore, while giving his cast plenty of ripe and sweary dialogue to chew on. Although well-staged, the martial arts sequences do feel a little out of place, but Jean-Paul Ly's breakneck moves help inject some momentum when the pace begins to flag. Although a little rough and ready, there's a gritty charm and undeniable chutzpah to Nightshooters that make it hard to dislike.
