Another in the erratic series of Cannon Movie Tales that also includes Christopher Walken's Puss in Boots and a marvellously wicked Diana Rigg as the evil queen in Snow White. Here the rather stolid Craig T Nelson gets to play twin brothers, one good, one bad, in a somewhat drawn-out "full" version of the Brothers Grimm original. It's all a bit uneven, and the musical numbers in particular are uninspired, but Isabella Rossellini is as graceful as ever playing the good twin's wife-in-jeopardy. Director Adam Brooks went on to make The Invisible Circus starring Cameron Diaz and new Dr Who, Christopher Eccleston.
