The film follows Robert Altman and his crew during the making of Short Cuts, his acclaimed film based on the stories of Raymond Carver. With contributions from, among others, Anne Archer, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jack Lemmon, Andie MacDowell, Matthew Modine, Tim Robbins, Madeleine Stowe, Lily Tomlin and Carver's widow, the poet Tess Gallagher.

Try to excuse the lousy title, for this is a highly entertaining and informative documentary about director Robert Altman, his films and his methods. Recorded during the making of Short Cuts, it has a day-in-the-life feel that makes it an ideal companion piece to that film, but there are also dozens of little insights that have a bearing on Altman's entire output. Co-directed by longtime colleague Mike Kaplan, this little-seen feature also contains interviews with the principal members of the Short Cuts cast, not all of whom present themselves in the most favourable light.
