The WWE Studios logo is a reliable indication of what to expect from this direct-to-video action thriller: questionable storytelling, pantomime villainy and bone-crunching violence. Martial arts superstar Scott Adkins (John Wick: Chapter 4) plays a widower and former US federal agent living in witness protection. When his cover is compromised and he's separated from his daughter, he's forced to race around London, ducking fists and dodging bullets to get her back. Adkins delivers everything fans expect, but he's matched slug for slug by former pro-wrestler WadeBarrett, a born heel who relishes his role as a smug and hulking assassin. Their eventual throwdowns are thunderous, pitting Adkins' backflip kicks against Barrett's pure brawn with fight choreography smartly informed by pro-wrestling. The script is risible but it's difficult to bear any ill will against a film this fizzily entertaining, especially one that features an impressively staged fight set in a cable car over the Thames. Director James Nunn knows what he's doing.
