German film-maker Stephan Rick isn't the first to remake a homeland hit on reaching America. For his second English-language outing (after 2017's The Super), Rick relocates his own 2011 thriller to the Latvian capital of Riga, where American journalist Luke Kleintank's stranger in a strange land has to rely entirely on overeager English neighbour Jonathan Rhys Meyers after a fatal hit-and-run accident. Short on tension and utterly bereft of plausibility, the ensuing scenario is complicated by Kleintank's editor (Bruce Davison) assigning him to cover the case, and by Kleintank falling for the victim's sister (Eloise Smyth). As the screenplay neglects to give either of the principals a backstory, events play out at an uninvolving crawl. Rhys Meyers does what he can, but this is only made watchable by Stefan Ciupek's noirish photography.
