This whimsical, family-pleasing mockumentary blends live action and stop-motion animation in adorable and seamless style. Jenny Slate voices the eponymous mollusc, who lives with his grandmother Nana Connie (Isabella Rossellini) in an Airbnb. When a documentary film-maker (played by the film's director, Dean Fleischer-Camp) moves into the property, he befriends Marcel, who then becomes an internet sensation and embarks on a quest to find his lost community. 60 Minutes legend Lesley Stahl plays a pivotal part in Marcel's journey, while Rosa Salazar also pops up along the way. It's buoyantly funny, endearing and wonderfully surreal, conjuring plenty of Borrowers-esque magic out of Marcel and Connie's escapades. He may be a miniscule protagonist, but Marcel is a shell that you'll take to your heart.
