Summary

Romantic comedy starring Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane. When happily single New York podcaster Bobby meets attractive hunk Aaron, he dismisses him as "hot but boring". Patrick Cremona

Billed as the first gay romcom from a major studio with an entirely LGBTQ+ principal cast, Bros comes courtesy of producer Judd Apatow, but star and co-writer Billy Eichner's stamp is all over it. He plays Bobby, a cynical podcaster whose dismissive approach to romance is challenged after he falls for a "hot but boring" hunk (Luke Macfarlane). Riffing on romcom conventions while also shamelessly indulging in them, this is a breezy, enjoyable romp that does a good job of commenting on the differences between gay and straight dating culture. It's also laugh-out-loud funny, especially in the first half, and there are some memorable visual gags throughout. The film lags a little in its second half, though, and there isn't a note of subtlety to it, but it's still a welcome addition to the romcom canon.
