Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Alan Jones

A little-seen and neglected animation feature, executive produced by George Lucas, and using the old-fashioned Lumage technique of photographing miniature cut-outs through glass. Ralph the All-Purpose Animal and his sidekick Mum (who only speaks in noises) heroically fight Synonamess Botch, the tyrannical ruler of the Murkworks Nightmare Factory, when he uses his maniacal powers to invade the sweet dreams of the gentle Rushers of Din with horrific and scary images. The unusual animation and sophisticated humour make director John Korty and Charles Swenson's unique flight of fancy a treat for older children and discerning adults.
