Review

A star rating of 1 out of 5.

Keith Bailey

Strangely, rapper LL Cool J doesn't once here get a chance to rap on screen or on the soundtrack, despite his hero character being an underground club DJ who gets plenty of opportunity to play music. The proceedings are a confusing mix between typical action in the 'hood and 1940s film noir, with the hero led astray by a femme fatale who persuades him to assist in the robbery of his mobster boss. It's no wonder LL gets lost in the clash of styles and is unable to provoke any sympathy for his character.
