Summary
In 2021, American poet Andrea Gibson was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and began chemotherapy. Her partner, fellow wordsmith Megan Falley, remained at her side through a four-year battle that sadly ended on July 1, 2025. A heartwarming and life-affirming documentary directed by Ryan White follows the couple beefier their final farewell as they meditate on love, loss and the fragility of life

Having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, American poet Andrea Gibson faces up to their last two years or so on Earth, with the loving help of life partner and fellow writer Megan Falley. This documentary offers a largely fly-on-the-wall account of the couple's time together, as they deal with Gibson's fluctuating health and, charmingly, a mailbox that refuses to remain standing. Through the various conversations it depicts, the film touches on a galaxy of topics and emotions, as the participants offer their thoughts on life, death and literature, as well as their personal struggles with sexuality, body image and suicide ideation. Which sounds rather heavy, but Gibson and Falley are such sincere, articulate company that the material remains affirmative and touching. Director Ryan White adopts a sensitive, accessible tone that can skirt over the grit in the participants' complex perspectives, with certain scenes feeling overly managed and therefore mannered. However, Gibson - a decorated and popular poet - offers something far more worthwhile than life-affirming homilies. The writer died before the film's release, but their verse lives on with some beautifully recited showcases sprinkled throughout. It all amounts to a tender illustration of our need for art in tough times.
