Summary
Fantasy adventure starring Laurence Olivier and Harry Hamlin. Perseus, son of Zeus, sets out to win the love of the beautiful Andromeda by overcoming the terrifying monsters set in his path by the other gods on Mount Olympus. They include a two-headed dog, the deadly Gorgon Medusa and a horrifying giant sea monster called the Kraken.

This star-studded fantasy adventure is almost a rerun of Jason and the Argonauts, only this time it's Perseus, Andromeda and assorted giant livestock who are put through their mythological paces. Harry Hamlin certainly has the muscles to play the heroic Perseus, but when it comes to the touchy-feely stuff, he and Judi Bowker make for an anaemic love match. Thankfully, Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion special effects are as wonderfully wobblesome as ever and he comes up with some memorable monsters, notably the petrifying Gorgon Medusa. Dressed in a white bathrobe and a Santa Claus beard, Laurence Olivier overacts dreadfully as Zeus, but fans of the genre will still find plenty here to enjoy.
