Review

So many things make this feature-length documentary a treat for true-crime connoisseurs. The lives of the rich and famous? Very much so, since we’re looking into the puzzling and mysterious 1999 death, in a blazing Monaco penthouse, of the billionaire banker Edmond Safra. Twists and turns that just keep coming? Of course. Colourful eccentrics unexpectedly linked to the case? Step forward English aristocrat Lady Colin Campbell. The chief suspect is interviewed? Yep, with fascinating results.

The real bonus, however, comes when the film-maker himself suddenly becomes involved in the story that he’s investigating.
