Following Rare Exports and Big Game, Finnish writer/director Jalmari Helander delivers another hugely entertaining and goofy action epic that's as hilariously gruesome as it is completely preposterous. In 1944, solitary prospector Aatami (Jorma Tommila) strikes gold in the Lapland wilderness. But the man of few words runs into conflict with a retreating detachment of Nazi soldiers, who set their sights on claiming his bounty. Unfortunately for the murderous stormtroopers, this is no ordinary miner, but a one-man army who epitomises the Finnish concept of "sisu" - white-knuckled courage and unimaginable determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Divided into comic-book style chapters that help lighten the tone, and wearing its spaghetti western heart on its very bloody sleeves, this is popcorn gore at its absurdly enjoyable finest.
