The return of long-absent Bollywood icon Helen is the main plus point of this masala. Largely told in flashback, the story traces singer Manisha Koirala's relationship with her deaf-mute parents. The highlights are the scenes in which Helen teaches her granddaughter about the joys of music and Manisha tries to share lover Salman Khan's music with Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas, who fear losing touch with the child who has made their hard lives bearable. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali's direction is as melodramatic as his screenplay and Jatin-Lalit's soundtrack is disappointingly inconsistent.
