As one of the supervising editors of the remarkable rockumentary Woodstock, Martin Scorsese was the perfect choice of director for this stunning movie of the Band's farewell gig on Thanksgiving Day, 1976. Taking a break from shooting New York, New York, he nevertheless planned this film to the last detail during rehearsals and was well served by seven cameramen, including Michael Chapman, Vilmos Zsigmond and Laszlo Kovacs, whose pinpoint shots allow you to concentrate on the performances and the brilliant music. The guests are a Who's Who of electric folk and R&B, making this not only an unmissable slice of nostalgia, but also a masterpiece of pop cinema.
