Summary
The extended director's cut of the fantasy adventure, starring Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck. With an ancient demonic threat looming, Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, enlists the help of Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) to form a new superhero team. After adding Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash to its ranks, the league faces its first challenge: resurrecting Superman.

A family tragedy led Zack Snyder to hand over direction of the 2017 Justice League film to Joss Whedon. That film received a lukewarm response, and Snyder now delivers his definitive version, which is epic in length and scope, and reminiscent of Snyder's 2009 adaptation of Watchmen. The set-up is much the same: Ben Affleck's Batman, tormented by the consequences of his feud with Henry Cavill's Man of Steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, tries to build a team of heroes to stop a cosmic invasion. Aided by a four-hour running time, Snyder uses unused footage to tease out the plot, allowing his actors time to flesh out their personas, especially Ezra Miller's humorous Flash and Ray Fisher's brooding Cyborg. Snyder also reconfigures action sequences and adds a sweeping new score to better serve the narrative. Meanwhile, previously unseen characters and a familiar Gotham rogue appear in this cut, and horned foe Steppenwolf offers greater menace in his new armour. An indulgence for Snyder, maybe, but one that superhero fans will enjoy.
