Golf clubs, hockey sticks, lacrosse... paddles? These are just some of the things that will kill you in "eat the rich" horror They Will Kill You. The film is a computer game-inspired beat 'em up starring Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2) as Asia, who escaped her abusive father ten years earlier, leaving her younger sister Maria (Myha'la) in his custody. Now, Asia's back with a vengeance. What starts as a tense home-invasion film becomes a funny and gory body-horror that stylistically echoes what might be John Wick: the Video Game. Based in a hotel called the Virgil, the film uses cuts and clipped shots to create the sensation of literally moving up different levels. It plays like a descent into hell, including an orgiastic "f*** room", leading to a final boss as outrageous as you could hope. Supporting cast Heather Graham, Tom Felton and Patricia Arquette are perfectly committed to the film's enjoyably ludicrous tone. Its rules don't make sense, but the visuals are funny, weird and wonderful.
