Actor-turned-director Sadie Frost paints another winning portrait of a 1960s fashion icon following her 2021 film about Mary Quant. This immensely likeable, if conventional, documentary shines a light on working-class, Neasden-born teenager Lesley Hornby. After changing her name to Twiggy, she became a celebrated supermodel epitomising the Swinging Sixties with her freewheeling style, self-awareness and gender-fluid looks. The "Face of 1966" then reinvented herself and thrived as a pop star, film actor, Broadway sensation and TV variety host. Archive footage and contemporary interviews add great insight into her evolution, whether from the remarkably honest Twiggy herself or the likes of Joanna Lumley, Brooke Shields, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Powell. Her controlling manager Justin De Villeneuve, marriage to Michael Whitney, and lasting relationship with actor Leigh Lawson are also addressed in the same charmingly no-nonsense way that Twiggy has always defined her incredibly fortunate life.
