Summary

Romantic comedy starring Piper Perabo and Lena Headey. It's Rachel and Heck's wedding day and they're about to embark on a new life of bliss together. But when Rachel meets Luce, the wedding florist, it turns her world upside down. Initially unaware that she's a lesbian, Rachel develops a platonic friendship with Luce, not realising the woman is smitten with her until she too begins to feel the same way.

Mainstream lesbian romantic comedies aren't exactly common, so writer/director Ol Parker at least deserves credit for thematic innovation. Yet, while this very contemporary London love story partly resides in Richard Curtis territory, it can't match the charming effervescence of films like Four Weddings and a Funeral, which it's clearly trying to ape. Lena Headey plays the Sapphic Primrose Hill florist who falls for bride Piper Perabo while arranging the flowers at her nuptials to Matthew Goode. A platonic friendship ensues - during which the newlyweds attempt to partner Headey with a lecherous pal - but after it emerges she's a "vagitarian", increasingly intense feelings begin to develop between the two women. Parker's debut as director starts off in a frothy and cheekily humorous vein, but it quickly descends into clumsy clichés as the lesbian romance becomes just as ordinary and predictable as any other big-screen relationship.
